How Iron Hub Brandy Is Made: A Story of Craft and Inspiration

Brandy being poured in glass

At Iron Hub Winery in Amador County, each bottle tells a story—and our brandy is no exception. What started as a simple campfire tradition has grown into a carefully crafted spirit rooted in experience, curiosity, and craftsmanship.

For founding winemaker and master distiller Tom Jones, brandy was always part of a favorite annual ritual: camping in Nevada. Each year, he would bring a bottle to enjoy around the campfire. The warmth, the setting, and the richness of the spirit created a memorable experience that eventually sparked a bigger idea.

That idea? To create a brandy that captures that same feeling.

From Campfire to Distillery
Inspired by those outdoor moments, Tom began exploring how to make brandy from scratch. At Iron Hub, this meant taking a vineyard-first approach—starting with high-quality grapes, crafting premium wine, and then carrying that focus through distillation and aging.

Our brandy is distilled from wine and then aged to add depth, smoothness, and complexity. This process requires patience and precision, qualities that embody Iron Hub’s winemaking philosophy.

By applying the same care used in crafting their wines, Iron Hub produces a brandy that reflects both place and process.

Crafted with Purpose
Iron Hub Brandy’s origin is what sets it apart. This isn’t a product made just to follow trends—it’s a spirit born from genuine enjoyment and refined through craftsmanship.

Every step, from grape selection to aging, is performed with intent. The result is a balanced, expressive brandy perfect for quiet moments or shared experiences.

Whether you’re enjoying a glass by the fire or at the winery, it’s a spirit designed to slow things down and be savored.
